Position: Commissioning Technician for Major Component Exchange (HV Trained)

Job type: Freelance contract

Role Summary

Supporting all service activities on site during Major Component Exchange

Wind turbine service technicians specialize in the operation and maintenance of wind turbines so they can be used to produce wind-powered electricity. Their work involves installing new turbines and performing routine maintenance to ensure the wind turbines are working correctly. These technicians also respond when a wind turbine isn't working properly and are responsible for performing repairs once they determine the cause of the problem

Essential responsibilities:

  1. Apply electrical LOTO and preparation of the Turbine
  2. Troubleshoot or repair mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical malfunctions related to variable pitch systems, variable speed control systems, converter systems, or related components.
  3. Commissioning and removal of electrical LOTO after MCU
  4. Diagnose problems involving wind turbine generators or control systems.
  5. Start or restart wind turbine generator systems to ensure proper operations.
  6. Test electrical components of wind systems with devices such as voltage testers, multimeters, oscilloscopes, infrared testers, or fiber optic equipment.
  7. Test structures, controls, or mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical systems, according to test plans or in coordination with engineers.
  8. Assist in assembly of individual wind generators or construction of wind farms.
  9. Collect turbine data for testing or research and analysis.

Qualifications/ Requirements:

  1. Fluent in English
  2. Technical high school diploma or equivalent
  3. Minimum of 2 years onshore wind farm experience required in Major Operations
  4. Leadership and computer skills
  5. Flexibility in working hours
  6. Positive attitude and approach to day to day duties
  7. Demonstrated initiative to increase efficiency in operations
  8. Driver's licence required
  9. A strong commitment to ensure safety and safe working environments
  10. Must be HV Trained
