Job Title: Commissioning Manager - High Voltage Substations (Contractor)
Location: Poland
Contract Length: 10 months (with likely 12-month extension)
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, with the possibility of some rotational work

We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager to join our Construction & Commissioning function in Poland. This role offers an exciting opportunity to play a key part in the energy transition by overseeing commissioning activities for high-voltage substation projects across Central Europe.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Lead the full commissioning scope for large & complex high-voltage substation projects.
- Manage an international team of electrical commissioning engineers on-site.
- Prepare staffing plans, mobilize site teams, and track actuals vs. plan.
- Monitor, record, and report contractor work progress alongside site commissioning teams.
- Oversee the implementation and monitoring of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards in collaboration with site construction staff.
- Liaise with the design office to ensure the timely issuance of required site work data (specifications, designs, BOQ, material lists, etc.).
- Prepare commissioning documentation such as Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) and project schedules.
- Publish progress reports and provide key inputs for project monthly reports.
- Manage commissioning-related quality issues, including non-conformance reporting and Return of Experience.
- Identify and manage risks and opportunities related to commissioning activities.
- Implement and oversee Lock-out/Tag-out (LOTO) systems on-site.
- Conduct sample inspections of key commissioning events to ensure contractor compliance with contract requirements and quality plans.
Candidate Requirements:
Skills & Qualifications:
- A qualification in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience in commissioning management).
- 5-10 years of experience in commissioning management, preferably in high-voltage substations.
- Strong understanding of health and safety regulations in line with international standards.
Experience:
- Proven experience as a Commissioning Manager on large substation projects.
- Hands-on commissioning experience with key substation components, including:
- High-voltage switchgear (up to 400kV)
- Power transformers
- Instrument transformers
- Medium-voltage switchgear
- Reactive compensation equipment
- Power and control cabling
- Protection systems
- SCADA systems
- Earthing systems
- Fibre optic cabling and systems
- Site telecoms systems
- LV power systems and auxiliary equipment
- Grid connection interface works
- Electrical HV safety rules & safe systems of work
Knowledge & Additional Skills:
- Familiarity with international standards and best practices related to commissioning (knowledge of Polish standards is a plus).
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to proactively recommend and implement corrective actions.
- Capable of working independently while integrating with the client's wider team.
- Excellent communication skills in English (Polish is a plus).
