Project Manager Tunnel Construction - Austria
Location: Austria (preferably based in Austria or Munich, with willingness to relocate)
About the Project:
We are working on one of Europe's most significant rail infrastructure projects. This sustainable project has a contract volume of approximately EUR 651 million and will create around 400 jobs in the region. The project involves the construction of 5.7 km of tunnels using the drill and blast method, and 16.4 km via TBM-drive, including emergency and exploratory tunnels. Environmental sustainability is a key focus, with a commitment to green electricity and reduced environmental impact.
Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with expertise in the construction of TBM or NATM tunnels to oversee the successful execution of the project. The Project Manager will be responsible for ensuring the timely completion, safety, and quality of the project while managing resources, budgets, and communication with stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the overall project management for the project, ensuring it meets scope, timeline, and budget requirements.
- Manage project teams, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Coordinate the construction of the main tunnels and associated infrastructure, with a focus on TBM or NATM techniques.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with environmental standards and sustainability measures.
- Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality control, and risk management throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare and present reports for senior management and stakeholders.
- Facilitate communication between the project partners, suppliers, and other relevant parties.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, Project Management, or related field.
- Fluent in German (written and spoken) is a must for effective communication on-site.
- Proven experience in project management, with a strong focus on TBM or NATM tunnel construction.
- At least 10 years of experience in complex civil engineering projects.
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
- Ability to relocate to Austria (preferably based in Austria or Munich).
- Previous experience in international, joint venture environments is an advantage.
