Resettlement Specialist - Major Infrastructure Project in Benin

Position: Resettlement Specialist
Our client is embarking on a significant infrastructure project in Benin aimed at addressing high logistics costs along the corridor caused by trade and regional transportation inefficiencies, inadequate road maintenance, and vehicle overloading.
As part of this transformative project, they are seeking an experienced Resettlement Specialist to lead the development and implementation of resettlement action plans, ensuring compliance with international best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Resettlement Action Plans (RAPs) in alignment with international standards.
- Collaborate closely with local counterparts and affected communities to ensure effective and equitable resettlement processes.
- Apply best practices, including IFC Performance Standard No. 5 and the World Bank Resettlement Policy, to guide resettlement activities.
- Address resettlement challenges specific to infrastructure and road projects.
- Engage with stakeholders to promote transparent and effective communication throughout the resettlement process.
Requirements:
- A degree in Social Sciences (BAC+5), preferably a postgraduate qualification.
- At least 10 years' professional experience in developing and implementing Resettlement Action Plans.
- Prior experience in developing countries; 2+ years' work experience in Africa is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in the application of international best practices, including IFC and World Bank standards.
- Fluency in French (spoken and written) is required. Local Dialect also desirable
- Resettlement experience in road infrastructure projects is an asset.
- Strong ability to work closely with local stakeholders, counterparts, and affected populations.
Salary: 5000 Euros Per Month
