Rail Civil Works Construction Manager (Canada)
EWI are supporting a leading International Infrastructure Company who are searching for an experienced Civil Works Construction Manager to join their team for a major subway project in Canada. Reporting to the Construction Director, this role will focus on overseeing civil works for subway stations, including reinforced concrete structures, waterproofing, traffic management, and utility reinstatement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate the planning, execution, cost control, and performance improvements of civil works at subway stations.
- Oversee construction of reinforced concrete structures, including waterproofing and utility reinstatement, and manage traffic flow during construction.
- Work closely with other department heads to ensure smooth coordination with systems installations, electromechanical works, and architectural fit-outs.
- Manage relationships with subcontractors and service providers, such as those handling rebar installations and concrete.
- Provide regular updates and comprehensive reports to the Construction and Project Directors.
- Monitor manpower utilization to ensure maximum productivity on-site.
- Collaborate with departments such as Design, Quality Control, Health and Safety, Logistics, and Communications to ensure all project requirements are met.
Requirements:
- Education:
- A university degree in civil engineering, construction engineering, or civil infrastructure engineering is required.
- Project management qualifications are a plus but not essential.
- Experience:
- At least 10 years of experience in large-scale infrastructure projects, with a focus on reinforced concrete structures (e.g., subway stations, powerhouses).
- Experience leading teams of 300+ workers on at least two major public infrastructure projects.
- Languages:
- Fluency in English is required.
- Proficiency in Spanish or Italian is an advantage.

- Resource Optimization: Expertise in managing manpower resources efficiently to maintain high levels of productivity.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Proven track record of working closely with design, safety, quality, and other departments to ensure seamless project execution.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Confident in representing the civil works team in meetings with clients and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment and resolving issues as needed.
