The Role: Thermal Technical Delivery Manager We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Thermal Technical Delivery Manager to oversee the full technical delivery lifecycle of thermal projects across Africa. If you thrive on delivering innovative, complex thermal solutions and have hands-on experience in C&I sectors, this role is for you!
Your Key Responsibilities Will Include:
Pre-Construction:
- Collaborate closely with Business Development Teams to design tailored, decarbonization solutions for clients.
- Lead the technical review of tenders, specifications, and contract documentation to ensure excellence in delivery.
- Identify and build partnerships with key vendors and suppliers to drive project success.
- Conduct site visits to assess technical risks and ensure all pre-construction elements are meticulously planned.
- Provide expert technical training and guidance to construction partners, ensuring adherence to project specifications and industry standards.
- Engage with client technical teams to ensure seamless project planning and delivery.
Construction & Commissioning:
- Lead the technical management of the full project lifecycle, from design to commissioning, working with vendors, contractors, and third-party consultants.
- Oversee design interfaces and ensure compliance with technical requirements, PPAs, and client expectations.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, troubleshoot technical challenges, and ensure contract compliance.
- Manage the technical aspects of commissioning to ensure all processes meet the client's high standards and performance expectations.
Post-Commissioning:
- Support the operations team with ongoing technical oversight, managing contractor and vendor liabilities.
- Evaluate plant performance and ensure compliance with all contractual obligations, including O&M responsibilities.
- Provide critical feedback to improve future project delivery and share lessons learned across the technical teams.
What We're Looking For:
- Proven expertise in thermal project delivery, with at least 7 years of hands-on experience in the design and implementation of large-scale thermal power plants, solid-fired CHP plants, and steam boiler systems.
- A deep understanding of the African thermal energy market, with a strong focus on commercial and industrial (C&I) projects.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead, mentor, and work closely with technical teams on the ground.
- A passion for decarbonization and renewable energy, with the drive to bring complex projects to life.
- Proficiency in MS Office and relevant design software packages.
Required Qualifications:
- An Engineering degree (preferably with Honors in Mechanical/Thermodynamic Engineering) from a top-tier university.
- Proven track record of working on thermal projects in emerging markets, particularly Africa.
Location: Kenya
Salary: $80,000 to $110,000 USD Per Annum
