The market leading infrastructure & energy recruiter is seeking a Welding Inspector for a major power project in Belgium.
Job Role / Responsibilities
The Welding Inspector will oversee welding supervision, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements, GE specifications, and applicable codes and standards. This includes reviewing Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQRs) for accuracy prior to the start of any welding work. The role involves organizing and monitoring the qualification of site welders, ensuring that only qualified welders are issued appropriate identification cards. The inspector will also ensure that all welding tools and equipment are fit for use, properly calibrated, and that necessary environmental control measures are in place when required. By providing technical guidance, the Welding Inspector will help ensure that all welding activities are carried out efficiently and to the highest quality standards. Regular site visits will be conducted to check WPS availability, confirm welding parameters, and ensure full traceability of materials and consumables. After welding activities, the inspector will promptly monitor visual inspections, cleanliness, and ensure proper recording of work progress and non-destructive testing results. They will identify potential weld defects and implement corrective actions as needed, while continuously monitoring welder performance to maintain high standards and compliance.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have proven experience as a Welding Inspector or in a similar role, with a strong understanding of welding procedures, including Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQRs). Familiarity with industry codes, standards, and specifications such as ASME or AWS is essential, along with the ability to conduct thorough inspections and provide technical recommendations. Experience in welding equipment calibration and qualification processes is also required. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and be able to work both independently and as part of a team. Relevant certifications, such as CWI or CSWIP, are preferred. French language skills are desirable for this role.
Rate
This is a fixed monthly rate of 6000 Euros per month, plus 1250 Euros per month for accommodation. The role is an immediate start working on a 8 month contract
