Position Overview:
The Head of Development will be responsible for leading and overseeing the company's development portfolio, ensuring the successful identification, planning, and execution of renewable energy projects. This role demands strategic vision, leadership, and the ability to drive project development from inception to completion while ensuring alignment with the company's goals and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and implement the overall development strategy for wind and solar energy projects in line with the company's growth objectives.
- Monitor and assess market trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements to inform strategic decisions.
Project Management:
- Oversee the entire lifecycle of renewable energy projects, including site identification, feasibility studies, permitting, design, and construction phases.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget while meeting quality and safety standards.
Team Management:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing development team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Allocate resources effectively across projects and ensure the team has the necessary tools and support.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government authorities, landowners, investors, and partners.
- Represent the company in negotiations, public hearings, and industry events to advocate for project approvals and the company's interests.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure all projects comply with local, national, and EU regulations, including environmental, health, and safety standards.
- Coordinate with legal and regulatory teams to secure necessary permits and approvals.
Financial Management:
- Develop and manage the department's budget, including forecasting project costs, securing funding, and controlling expenditures.
- Collaborate with the finance team to evaluate project financials, including ROI and risk assessments.
Innovation and Sustainability:
- Drive innovation in project development processes and technologies to enhance efficiency and sustainability.
- Champion the company's commitment to renewable energy and sustainability through responsible project development practices.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, Environmental Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience:
- Several years of experience in renewable energy project development, with a focus on wind and solar energy.
- Proven track record of successfully leading and delivering large-scale renewable energy projects.
- Experience in a leadership role, managing multidisciplinary teams, and working with senior executives.
Skills:
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills with diverse stakeholders.
- In-depth knowledge of the renewable energy industry, regulatory environment, and market dynamics.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools.
