Financial Controller / chief Accountant
Hamburg, Germany - Renewable Energy Developer
Role Overview: The Financial Controller will oversee and manage the financial planning and control for ongoing development projects within the renewable energy sector.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the CFO on monthly consolidated management accounts, with a particular focus on Austria, Poland, and Germany.
- Assist in the preparation of annual consolidated financial statements.
- Develop, revise, and enforce effective internal financial control processes.
- Calculate project costs and margins.
- Ensure the creation, maintenance, and supervision of best practice financial policies and processes.
- Engage with auditors for both interim and year-end audits.
- Develop and maintain annual budgets and cash flow forecasts.
- Lead the intercompany invoicing and cost allocation process.
- Streamline accounting procedures and processes.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, audit, or financial control.
- Experience in infrastructure or renewable energy projects, with exposure to various renewable energy technologies (wind, solar, battery storage) and business models (energy generation, retail, trading) is a plus.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, with experience in managing complex spreadsheets.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of financial principles, project finance appraisal techniques, and financial modeling best practices.

- Proficiency in handling time-constrained situations and meeting tight deadlines.
- Advanced proficiency with the MS Office suite.
- Fluency in German and English, both written and spoken.
- Genuine interest and enthusiasm for the renewable energy sector and working in an international environment.
Salary: 65,000 to 75,000 euros per annum
