About the Role
A leading company in the floating offshore wind energy market is seeking a Senior Offshore Technician. This role involves performing installation, commissioning, and O&M activities for multiple offshore wind projects in Europe. The position requires close collaboration with engineering teams, clients, and contractors to ensure smooth project execution.
General Description
The Senior Offshore Technician will support local teams where O&M contracts are secured. This role reports to the Site Manager and involves:
- Routine Maintenance: Plan and execute IMR activities on floating wind platforms.
- Troubleshooting and Repairs: Address technical issues in electrical, mechanical, welding/structural, or control systems.
- Safety Compliance: Promote a safety-first culture and adhere to strict safety protocols.
- Data Collection and Reporting: Collect and analyze platform performance data using specialized software.
- Emergency Response: Prepare for and respond to emergencies.
- Team Leadership: Guide and lead a team of offshore technicians.
- Inventory Management: Manage spare parts and tools inventory.
- Environmental Compliance: Ensure adherence to environmental regulations.
- Communication: Maintain effective communication with onshore support teams and management.
- Documentation: Keep detailed records of maintenance activities and safety incidents.
- Training and Mentorship: Train and mentor junior technicians.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve maintenance processes and equipment reliability.
- Adherence to Procedures: Follow standard operating procedures and maintenance manuals.
Skills & Competencies
Essential:
- 5 years of experience in offshore environments.
- Recognized apprenticeship/NVQ 3 in Electrical or Mechatronics disciplines.
- Strong technical expertise and troubleshooting abilities.
- Safety-first mentality with excellent attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and customer relation skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Basic computer operation skills and ability to generate and interpret data.
- Skilled communicator capable of providing clear instructions, sharing safety updates, and reporting issues.
- Experience in emergency response and downtime management.
- Driven by safety, regulatory compliance, risk management, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
- Knowledge and experience in multicultural and international environments.
- Authorized to work in the UK.
- Fluent in spoken and written English with technical English competency.
- Willingness to travel to various locations for active operations.
Preferred:
- Experience in data analysis related to maintenance activities and performance.
- GWO BST certification.
- Confined Space Entry Awareness with Breathing Apparatus.
- Confined Space Rescue.
- Chester step and OEUK medical.
- OPITO Authorized Gas Tester.
