HV/MV Engineer - T&D (Contract)

Location: UK & Europe (Onshore & Offshore roles available)
Contract Duration: 6-12 months
Start Date: ASAP

Job Overview:We are partnering with an international OEM to recruit an HV/MV Engineer for a contract opportunity in the wind industry, specifically focused on Transmission & Distribution (T&D) systems. This role involves working on both onshore and offshore wind farm projects across the UK and Europe, with responsibility for the design, installation, testing, and maintenance of high-voltage electrical systems, including substations, transformers, high-voltage cables, and grid connections.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, install, and commission HV electrical systems for T&D infrastructure in onshore and offshore wind farms.
  • Oversee the installation of HV equipment, including transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, and high-voltage cables.
  • Perform testing and troubleshooting of HV systems, ensuring systems meet design specifications and are ready for grid integration.
  • Collaborate with project teams, OEMs, and contractors to ensure T&D systems are installed and integrated effectively.
  • Conduct fault analysis and implement corrective actions to resolve HV equipment issues, ensuring optimal system performance.
  • Review and verify system designs, technical documentation, and engineering plans to ensure compliance with regulations and client specifications.
  • Develop maintenance procedures, operational guidelines, and safety protocols for HV systems in wind farm projects.
  • Provide on-site technical support during installation, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance of HV systems.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory standards, safety procedures, and environmental considerations for T&D work.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in HV system design, installation, and maintenance within T&D networks, particularly in the wind or renewable energy sector.
  • Strong knowledge of high-voltage equipment, including transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, and high-voltage cables.
  • Experience in testing and troubleshooting HV systems for grid integration.
  • Familiarity with both onshore and offshore wind farm electrical infrastructure.
  • Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.
  • Willingness to travel across the UK and Europe for site-based work.
  • Offshore certification (e.g., BOSIET, CA-EBS) for offshore roles.
  • Valid right to work in the UK and/or Europe.
