Team Leader - Team Leader - Renewables Project - Nigeria (Donor Funded Assignment)

Our client is urgently seeking a Team Leader for an ongoing Renewable Energy Finance Project in Nigeria.

Project Overview:

The project aims to implement the Transforming Financial Systems for Climate Program in Nigeria, scaling up climate finance to drive private-sector investments in support of the ecological transition. The focus is on financing projects related to:

  • Renewable energy and low-carbon energy generation
  • Climate-smart agriculture technologies
  • Clean urban transportation
  • Other climate change mitigation and adaptation initiatives

A Technical Assistance Facility has been established to build capacity in:

  • Identifying and developing bankable climate-related projects
  • Defining and implementing a climate finance strategy
  • Managing environmental and social risks
  • Establishing a professional gender equality policy
  • Leading marketing and communication activities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead project planning, budgeting, and reporting to achieve overall objectives
  • Mobilize and coordinate key and short-term experts for project implementation
  • Organize and facilitate workshops and awareness campaigns
  • Engage in policy dialogue with the Ministry of Environment and Nigerian public institutions
  • Provide innovative solutions to enhance the project's impact

Candidate Requirements:

  • Master's degree in a relevant field
  • Minimum 10 years of experience providing technical assistance to financial institutions
  • 5+ years of experience as a Team Leader or senior project manager
  • Experience in energy or infrastructure projects
  • Expertise in financing climate mitigation and adaptation projects
  • Experience working with development agencies, preferably in Sub-Saharan Africa
  • Ability to coordinate the project on a half-time basis throughout the assignment

Other Details:

  • Salary Package: $500 USD per day
  • Contract Length: 24 to 36 months
  • Location: Lagos, Nigeria (70% on-site, 30% remote)
