Title: Grid Manager - Solar PV

Location: England, London (Hybrid)

Start: Asap

Responsibilities:

  • Leverage GIS to identify and pursue new project opportunities, working closely with internal teams to turn these leads into active projects.
  • Handle the submission of grid connection requests, ensuring compliance with all necessary protocols.
  • Design and plan the infrastructure needed to connect solar projects to the grid, including substations and other relevant equipment, while managing budgets.
  • Support the development of junior team members by providing mentoring and sharing your technical expertise.
  • Attend industry events and collaborate with network operators and trade organisations to influence policies that promote renewable energy growth and contribute to net-zero goals.
  • Work in tandem with Independent Connection Providers (ICPs), technical advisers, and other partners to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Review technical documentation and policies, making recommendations for improvements to streamline processes.
  • Serve as the lead expert in grid design, offering advice and support throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Assist in due diligence processes by addressing any grid-related questions or concerns from stakeholders.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with network operators to ensure timely project progression and ensure all technical and procedural standards are met.

Experience & Skills:

  • A collaborative team member with strong communication and organisational abilities.
  • At least 4 years of experience in managing grid connection processes for renewable energy projects.
  • Advanced skills in MS Office, especially Excel, and the ability to create models for design and analysis.
  • Knowledge of grid protection and communication standards.
  • A solid understanding of the financial implications of design decisions and how they affect project profitability. Experience in financial modelling is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with power modelling software (e.g., DigSilent) and design tools for large solar projects, such as AutoCAD or PVSyst.
  • Experience working with both distribution and transmission network operators.
  • A degree in renewable energy, engineering, or a closely related field.
