Gender and Social Inclusion Specialist - Benin
Our client is current undertaking major infrastructure project in West Africa, with internal Donor. For this project they are seeking: Gender and Social Inclusion Specialist
Qualifications and Experience
The Gender and Social Inclusion Specialist must meet the following qualifications and experience requirements:
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree (BAC + 3) and preferably a graduate degree in social sciences or a related discipline (anthropology, sociology, women's studies/poverty, public policy, community or economic development, etc.).
- A minimum of eight (08) years of relevant experience in integrating the gender and/or social inclusion approach in large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Experience in preparing, conducting, or reviewing social impact assessments or similar studies, including issues relating to resettlement, compensation, and livelihood restoration, with a focus on women's inclusion and empowerment, is highly desirable.
- Proven experience in countries in West Africa.
- Experience in the road sector is an asset.
Skills and Knowledge
- Familiarity with the application of international best practices and methodologies for social studies, with a preference for knowledge of SFI (Standards for Financial Institutions) standards.
- Demonstrated experience working in participatory community development and consultative methods.
Language Requirements
- Fluency in French is required.
- Fluency in at least one of the main local languages will be an asset.
Salary: Negotiable depending on experience
Location: The Specialist must be based in Benin for the duration of the respective contracts.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring that gender and social inclusion considerations are integrated into project design and implementation, aligning with international best practices and local contexts.
